Since ancient times, the Muscat grape, known centuries ago as “apianae” (from the Latin “apis” = bee) has been famous for its exceptional qualities for making delicious sweet wines. However, its excellent adaptation in dry and medium-dry white wines, in the company of other varieties such as Viura or Malvasía, has made it possible to transport these classic wines to a new dimension of aroma and flavour. Of all the Muscat grape varieties, which were brought from Asia Minor even before Roman times, the Apianae or Moscatel de Grano Menudo (Muscat Blanc a petit grains) is the most select and highly appreciated. It is indigenous to La Rioja, but it had to be reintroduced a hundred years after falling victim to the phylloxera plague which swept through the region at the end of the 19th century. Its enormous potentiality and the finesse of its berries make our wines elegant, fruity and highly aromatic. If to this we add a careful selection of the grapes and limited production, the result is a wine of unmatchable quality.
